Aam Admi Bima Yojana


   


   It is a social security scheme, combined with Janashree Bima Yojana in 2013, that provides financial protection and safety net for unforeseen events through insurance coverage, with focus on rural areas.

   It focuses on individuals from economically vulnerable, marginalized, and underprivileged sections employed in 48 defined occupations like landless labourers, manual scavengers, construction workers and rural artisans.

 

Eligibility Criteria

  • Age – 18 to 59 years
  • Below Poverty Line Income Level

 

Insurance coverage

  1. Natural death - Rs.30,000
  2. Accidental death - Rs.75,000
  3. Partial permanent disability - Rs.37,500
  4. Total permanent disability - Rs.75,000

 

Not covered in insurance,

  • Expenses in hospital
  • Death by suicide
  • Death in adventure sports
  • Death or disability by substance abuse, mental disorder, and illegal activities

 

Benefits

  1. Scholarship of Rs.100 per month to students of classes 9th to 12th from BPL families (maximum 2 children)
  2. Life insurance with nominee claim on natural death, accidental death, and disability.
  3. Financial assistance for funeral expenses to families of deceased.
  4. Government subsidizes the premium amount, with Annual premium rs.200 per person per year.
  5. Social security for those engaged in unorganized sector.

 


Enrolment

  • Applications are available in designated insurance companies, banks, and government offices
  • Submit documents required and pay the premium amount at designated channels (designated by the government, vary on states)
  • Verification and approval by authorities


Documents to be submitted along with application,

  1. Proof of age (birth certificate, school leaving certificate, government issued documents verifying the age)
  2. Proof of occupation (work certificate, employer verification, any document confirming their profession)
  3. Proof of income (Income certificate, any document demonstrating the income)
  4. Proof of address (Ration card, Utility bill, any government issued document verifying the address)
  5. Proof of identity (any government issued identification card such as aadhar card, voter identification)

 

Settlement claim

  • Obtain claim form from designated authorities.
  • Submit original AABY form, proof of incident with claim form.
  • For nominee benefits, submit nominee or legal heir details along with their identity proof.
  • Other documents as per requirements.

 

   Overall, this scheme provides financial security, health insurance coverage, and educational support to those from marginalized sections of the society and ensures that the family of insured get financial support during difficult times. This is an important scheme to uplift them, fostering an inclusive and more resilient society.
